Stick It To Autism

Stick It To Autism!!

What is autism?

According to the National Institute of Health, autism is a complex developmental disability that causes problems with social interaction and communication. Symptoms usually start before age three and can cause delays or problems in many different skills that develop from infancy to adulthood. Different people with autism can have very different symptoms. Health care providers think of autism as a “spectrum” disorder, a group of disorders with similar features. One person may have mild symptoms, while another may have serious symptoms. But they both have an autism spectrum disorder.

Jim McClure has developed a program called "Stick It To Autism".
This program teaches children how to play the drums and that helps them in many,
areas where autistic children are challenged.

Jim McClure has personal and very heart felt intentions with this program.
Jim's son, Riley, has Asperger's, a type of Autism.
There are more than 16 international studies that show that the focus on drumming helps in many areas where these special children are challenged.

Jim McClure is a former nurse and operates this program out of his home.
Currently the charge is $16.00 per lesson and most insurances will not cover any of the charges.
Each lesson consists of 20-30 minutes where the child is measured on various tasks and is continually monitored for progress.
Parents may watch the entire session and will receive a copy of the assessment.

Jim McClure says, "My desire to help children like my son, coupled with my
professional experiences as a nurse, a degree in psychology and health administration,
provide a solid foundation to work with these special children."
